1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They allow the website to remember information between page views and visits, for example that you are signed in or which language you prefer.
- First-party cookies are set by debatly.com.
- Third-party cookies are set by other services that we use on our pages, such as Stripe or Google.
- Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them.
We group cookies into three categories:
- Strictly necessary: needed for the website to work, for example to keep you signed in, to remember your language and cookie choices, and to protect payments. These cookies do not require consent and are always active.
- Analytics: help us understand how visitors use the website, so that we can improve it. We use them only with your consent.
- Marketing: help us measure the results of our advertising campaigns. We use them only with your consent.

The Stripe cookies are set when you open the checkout. Stripe uses them to detect and prevent fraudulent payments. More information is available in Stripe's own privacy and cookie documentation.
Google Analytics and marketing cookies are loaded through Google Tag Manager. They are set only after you accept the relevant category.
3. Local storage
In addition to cookies, the app uses your browser's local storage. Local storage works in a similar way to cookies, but the data is not sent to our servers with every request.
We store in local storage:
- your login token, so that the app can keep you signed in;
- small interface preferences, for example layout or display settings.
This data stays in your browser. It is strictly necessary for the app to work or to remember choices you made. You can delete it by signing out or by clearing the site data in your browser settings.
4. Consent and how to change it
If you visit Debatly from the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a cookie banner asks for your consent before we use analytics or marketing cookies. You can:
- accept all cookies;
- reject all optional cookies;
- choose which categories you allow.
Strictly necessary cookies are always active, because the website cannot work properly without them.
Your choice is stored in the cookie_consent cookie for 1 year. After that, or if you delete your cookies, we will ask you again.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal. If you withdraw consent, we stop setting the affected cookies. Cookies already stored in your browser can be deleted in your browser settings.
5. Google Consent Mode
We use Google Consent Mode. This means that Google tags loaded through Google Tag Manager receive your consent choices before they run.
- If you have not given consent to analytics or marketing cookies, Google tags do not store cookies in your browser for those purposes.
- If you give consent, Google tags can set the analytics or marketing cookies listed in section 2.
- If you later change your choice, the new setting is passed to Google tags.

6. Browser controls
Most browsers let you:
- view the cookies stored on your device;
- delete some or all cookies and local storage data;
- block cookies from specific websites or all third-party cookies;
- open private browsing windows that delete cookies when closed.
Please note that if you block or delete strictly necessary cookies or local storage, some parts of Debatly will not work. For example, you will not be able to stay signed in, and your language and cookie choices will not be remembered.
The settings are usually found in the "Privacy" or "Security" section of your browser. Please check your browser's help pages for exact instructions.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add, remove or change cookies, or when the law changes. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page. If we start using a new category of optional cookies, we will ask for your consent again.
